The goal and purpose of the tournament is to raise awareness of sustainable fishing practices and to promote the sport of kayak fishing. The tournament is a non-profit event with all profits being donated to various forms to organizations within the province of Alberta with goals that align with our own.
Kayak fishing is at the forefront of the fishing industry, every year more anglers are realizing the advantages of fishing from a kayak and have made this sport the fastest growing niche of the fishing industry. We are happy to be involved in the growth of that niche with the amazing support of our sponsors who are the ones who make this tournament possible.
Although our tournament is named the Kayak Fishing Classic, we welcome all single man powered craft to enter. Whether you fish from a kayak, canoe, float tube, pontoon, SUP, rubber dingy, aluminum boat or bath tub…. if it floats and you can paddle or peddle it solo, you are welcome to join us for a wonderful day of friends, fish and fishing tails.
Please check out the Director’s Updates page and also the Sponsor page to see all the great new info and links to our amazing sponsors.
Hope to see you this year.
Mike

Hi Bill. This tournament is not hosted at the same lake every year. We like to move it around so that all anglers have a chance to fish waters closer to home and so that the distances travelled by each angler varies a little more. This year the tournament will be held in Caroline, AB. We will be fishing both Burnstick and Phyllis Lakes on the Saturday. Both lakes will include 2 of the species that are eligible and each Lake will have its own distinct species as well to challenge the anglers. If you would like more information on this year’s tournament please email eastslopeclassic@gmail.com and I will semt you the information.
